NEW HAVEN TOWN BOARD MEETING

HELD SEPTEMBER 17, 2019

 

CALL TO ORDER

Supervisor Timothy Teifke called the monthly meeting for September 17, 2019 to order at 6:00 p.m. at the New Haven Town Hall. Roll call: Councilman Dan Barney, Councilwoman Mary Curcio, Councilwoman Patricia Prosser, Councilman William Rombough, and Supervisor Timothy Teifke present. Motion by William Rombough, second by Mary Curcio, to accept the minutes as presented. AUDIT OF TOWN BILLS (Click to View Document)

General bills: vouchers#240-263, totaling $10,049.69, were duly audited.

Highway bills: vouchers #121-135, totaling $ 106,334.80, were duly audited.

Street Lighting bill: voucher #243, totaling $ 301.27, was duly audited.

Water District # 8 bill: voucher # 19-21, totaling $ 29,649.24, was duly audited.

Capital Improvement District # 8: vouchers # 14 & 15, totaling $ 23,492.35, were duly audited.

Capital Improvement District # 9: vouchers # 12 & 13, totaling $ 2,234.68, were duly audited.

Budget Amendment WD#8: Motion by Mary Curcio, second by Patricia Prosser, to accept the attached resolution adjusting budget items for Water District #8. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

Water District #8 Funds: Motion by William Rombough, second by Dan Barney, to authorize the supervisor to sign a letter to de-obligate the remaining grant funds for Water District #8. Fire Department Member: Motion by Dan Barney, second by Patricia Prosser, to approve Kurt Bessel Jr as a new member of the fire department. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

Court Grant: A grant application will be submitted to the court system for items to benefit the court.

Pickup Sale: Motion by Patricia Prosser, second by William Rombough, to accept the bid of $28,700 for the 2016 Ford 250 on Auctions International. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

Equipment Upgrades: The Highway Department will be purchasing a new sander for one of the trucks and a new dump box for the crew cab. The money will come from the extra money the county is paying for snow removal this year. The highway superintendent will get a quote for a lighting upgrade in the highway department.

Budget Workshops: Budget workshops will be held on October 1st, 8th, and 15th at 5:00 additional workshops will be scheduled if needed.

Committee Reports: going forward all committee reports must be submitted in writing.

Audit: Jon Ferguson explained the findings in the audit of the 2018 books.

Executive Session: Motion by Dan Barney, second by Mary Curcio to enter into executive session at 6:49 for the purpose of discussing candidates for the financial consultant and assessor positions. Motion by William Rombough, second by Dan Barney, to come out of executive session and reenter regular session at 7:41. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried. No decisions were made in executive session

Financial Consultant: Motion by Mary Curcio, second by Dan Barney to hire Peggy Mousaw as the Town’s Financial Consultant at the rate of $75.00 per hour. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

Assessor: Dan Barney and Mary Curcio will interview the applicants for the assessor position and make recommendations to the board.

 

VISITORS

Mike Prosser: Stated that Bob and the highway crew are doing a fantastic job. He also said he thought the lighting upgrade is a good idea from a safety standpoint.

Michelle Forsyth: From McFee asked if the board had any questions. She and another representative from McFee answered several questions regarding their billing practices.
