NEW HAVEN TOWN BOARD MEETING

HELD JUNE 18, 2019

 

CALL TO ORDER

Supervisor Timothy Teifke called the monthly meeting for June 18, 2019 to order at 6:00 p.m. at the New Haven Town Hall. Roll call: Councilman Dan Barney, Councilwoman Mary Curcio, Councilwoman Patricia Prosser, Councilman William Rombough, and Supervisor Timothy Teifke present. Motion by Dan Barney, second by Mary Curcio, to accept the minutes as presented. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

 

AUDIT OF TOWN BILLS (Click to View Document)

General bills: vouchers #156-184, totaling $ 17,637.21, were duly audited.

Highway bills: vouchers #70-85, totaling $ 136,412.60, were duly audited.

Street Lighting bill: voucher # 159, totaling $ 294.19, was duly audited.

Water District # 7: voucher # 4, totaling $ 8,654.27, was duly audited.

Water District # 8 bill: voucher # 5, totaling $ 15,430.00, was duly audited.

Water District # 9: vouchers # 6 & 7, totaling $ 2,556.78, were duly audited.

PRESENTATIONS

Fire Department: Fire Department President, Curt Fischer gave a presentation on the services the fire department provides and the cost of operation, as well as the challenge of recruiting and retaining volunteers and the possible impact on their service.

McFee Ambulance: Mike Solozo of McFee Ambulance gave a presentation on the services they provide, the cost of operation and the financial challenges they face.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Assessor: A request for proposal for a new assessor will be prepared next month.

Scriba Water Billing: The Town’s Attorney has been communicating with the Town of Scriba’s Attorney. He will be presenting our proposal to the Scriba Town Board at their meeting next week.

Harassment Training: Harassment training will be held on Monday August 19, 2019 at 11:00 am and Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm. This training is mandatory for all town officials and employees.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Order Establishing Water Service Area # 9: Motion by Dan Barney, second by William Rombough, to accept the attached resolution forming Water Service Area #9 contingent on a positive vote. Vote on Water Service Area #9: Motion by Mary Curcio, second by Dan Barney, to hold a vote on formation of Water Service Area #9 on August 22, 2019 from Noon to 8:00 pm at the Town Hall. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

IT Services: Motion by Mary Curcio, second by Patricia Prosser, to make Computer Outlet North the official IT service providers for the town. Dan Barney, Aye; Mary Curcio, Aye; Patricia Prosser, Aye; William Rombough, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.

Financial Consultant: A request for proposal for a new financial consultant will be prepared next month.

Standard Work Day: Motion by Patricia Prosser, second by William Rombough, to accept the attached resolution setting the standard work day to be reported to the retirement system for employees. Renegotiate Plan 2014 Resolution: A resolution will be prepared for next month asking President Trump to renegotiate Plan 2014. The county will be encouraged to pass a similar resolution.

New Fire Department Member: Motion by Dan Barney, second by William Rombough to Approve Mike Guzman as a new member of the fire department.

 

VISITORS

Chris Christaldi: Stated that the 45-mph speed limit on Johnson Rd needs to be enforced. Vehicles fly down the road. Our County Legislator will be contacted about the problem.

Rhea Knittle: Also expressed concerns about the speeding on Johnson Rd.

Renee Fox: Asked about roadside mowing on Co Rt 1 near Patricia Lane. The town crews are working on mowing the roadsides, but are behind due to the amount of time spent delivering sandbags.
