NEW HAVEN TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING HELD AUGUST 1, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
Supervisor Timothy Teifke called the special meeting for August 1, 2017 to order at 6:00p.m. at the New Haven Town Hall. Roll call: Councilman William Rombough, Councilman James Vergos and Supervisor Timothy Teifke present. Councilwoman Patricia Prosser absent.
PURPOSE OF MEETING
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss proposed local law #4 of 2017 “A Local Law Providing for Enactment of the New York State Legislation Titled “Lake Ontario and Connected Waterways Assessment Relief Act””and to call a public hearing on the proposed law. Notice of the meeting published in the paper and posted on the Town’s website and the Town bulletin board.
Proposed Local Law: Motion by James Vergos, second by Timothy Teifke to set 5% of the assessed value attributable to improvements as the minimum that assessment relief may be considered for in section III of the proposed local law. William Rombough, Aye; James Vergos, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.
Public Hearing: Motion by James Vergos, second by William Rombough, to hold a public hearing on Proposed Local Law #4 of 2017 “A Local Law Providing for Enactment of the New York State Legislation Titled “Lake Ontario and Connected Waterways Assessment Relief Act”” immediately following the public hearing on Local Law #3 of 2017 scheduled on August 15, 2017 at 5:45. William Rombough, Aye; James Vergos, Aye; Timothy Teifke, Aye; Carried.
Water District #8: The time table for Water District #8 was discussed. The issue was tabled.
Flood Map Update: James Vergos attended a meeting with FEMA and NY State officials on updating the flood maps for the Lake Ontario Shoreline. The plan will put most of the shoreline in the flood plain which would require property owners to with mortgages to purchase flood insurance. The building codes for the waterfront are also being rewritten. The Town will also be required to have an emergency plan for flooding. The next meeting will be in approximately one and a half years.
